Alaska Primary Results Updates: Arizona and Florida Election Results 2010

Posted on 26. Aug, 2010 by in Headlines, Politics

Two main states in US held their state primary elections. In Alaska election Results, Sen  Lisa Murkowski’s GOP primary race with the “tea party” insurgent Joe Miller is a very tough race to call. Bill McCollum is already out in Florida.

A lot of political analysts were surprised because the incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski was expected for a sure seat and a “sure thing” to gain the Republican nomination last night. But instead, the underdog and not so well-known conservative Joe Miller leads the poll by about 3,000 votes.

Now, if Murkowski ends up losing in Alaska, she will be considered as the third incumbent senator to fall in this year’s primary season. The other two were Sen. Robert Bennett (R) of Utah and Sen. Arlen Specter (D) of Pennsylvania. With the latest Alaska Election Results 2010, 84.2% of precincts reporting the Miller has 45,188 votes and Murkowski has 42,633.

Meanwhile, the  Florida had two big results last night in the state elections.  Each party had to decide who to nominate in a race for the U.S. Senate seat in Florida and the governorship.

In the latest election results, the Republican millionaire Rick Scott defeated Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum 46-43. It was already decided in Senate Race, that Governor Charlie Crist has already conceded the nomination to conservative Marco Rubio in the Republican nomination.

But later this evening, Crist has announced his intention to run as an independent party which causes the election to become something of a wild card. Scott gained 46.4% of the vote compared to McCollum’s 43.4%. Apparently, Scott will now spend even more money in the general election, where he will face off with Democrat Alex Sink, the state’s Chief Financial Officer.
