Living up to the saying “We Are What We Eat” is not that difficult after all. We just have to choose the right food and knowing which is the right one is really essential. Let’s not be deceived by the luscious look of those displayed in the supermarkets and get amazed by their enormous sizes. Most likely they came from growth hormone chemicals, synthetic products and strong preservatives. These things are definitely not good to our health. If we’re spending that much just to have these healthy looking products, why don’t we spend on the real healthy ones like those from organic farming. Rest assured that their products grew and has been taken cared of naturally.

Organic farming is the form of agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotation, green manure, compost and biological pest control to maintain soil productivity and control pests on a farm.

Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved. -International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements

That’s why social entrepreneur Chris Bech and his wife Theresa invested in this kind of farming now that they’re in their retirement years. They are real estate business couple but didn’t settle in buildings skyscraper establishments. They preserved the natural beauty of Tablas Island in Romblon by organic farming and beach resorts. They also helped expats manage their retirement funds by investing in the healthy business as well. They didn’t only preserved the environment of the place but at the same time provide jobs for the locals in the place as organic farming require more manpower than the conventional ones.
